A country should be a nation which has self governance with its own authorities plus it needs to be recognized by its sovereignty by the international community, basically the UN. With these criterion in place we have 197 countries in the world. Of these 193 are fully recognized by the United Nations. Other four countries included are 2 as permanent observers and 2 which are recognized partially by other representative countries. Now you may wonder who are the ones who are not recognized.
